I had many many classic 900 turbos, and I replaced many heater control valves......not the same part as we are discussing here, but a high failure item from the old Saab that they never really fixed. I can remember making a by-pass shunt out of 1/2 copper tubing because you could not get the part anywhere for a while.
If you think a BMW or a Mercedes is more reliable than a 95 well.......you have every right to that opinion. My '01 95 has 120,000 and is very reliable.....yes the heater bipass valve has been replaced.....but at 97,000 miles.
