Any cure for harsh ride on 05 Aero?

Bought this car for my wife to drive back in January, and finally drove it a bit myself last week. You can literally feel every road inperfection as it slams and bangs over every irregularity. Suspension checks out fine, no problems, it feels as though the car is WAY oversprung, way to stiff. It has 225-45-17 Michelin Exaltos with 3/4 the tread on them, the same tires I use on my 00 9-3 SE, (different size though, 205-50-16). Is there anything I can do to make this car a bit more pleasant to drive? I know, probably should have got the ARC, but the better seats and a bit more power in the Aero package was too much to pass up. My 9-3 is a pleasure to drive in comparison and is just as quick with a lesser motor, a bit more roll in the corners but no crashing and banging.
Maybe I could go with some different tires, say 225-50-17's next time. But there seems to be little room for them. I would like to avoid a spring change or change to 16" wheels, but that may be the only solution.
