Not all cars are built exactly the same and not all years are equipped exactly the same.
So that means what could happen on a Volvo of certain model and year might not be relevant to a certain model and year of a Saab.
Also, the 99 9-5 is not as common to have failing ABS modules as the 2000 and up even though it can happen. The 99 have a little bit simpler ABS module and it seems that it is more sturdy. I have only replaced one but many 00-01.
If it no chances to get any readout of codes I guess you can take a chance and have the ABS module rebuilt.
I always want to find the real reason before doing any repairs. That's why it can pay off to have some tests done by a serious Saab mechanic using a Tech 2.
