Baffled? Posted by TonyJ [Email] (#407) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TonyJ) on Sun, 1 Jun 2008 05:45:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Our "new" 04 9-5 Aero wagon, on first fill up, indicated just 1/4 tank, but it gradually rose to full. It has been erratic since. Both fuel pump and sender were replaced very recently, per the warranty record. The dealer is going to replace the whole tank under warranty because the baffle has come loose. I have searched the list and learned a lot about this baffling issue, but a few questions remain.
Is it really necessary to replace the whole tank or is the dealer milking Saab?
How does the baffle attach to the tank and what exactly lets go so it falls down to interfere with the float and/or pickup?
There was a kit to add the baffle through the fuel pump port when people complained about sloshing sound at 3/4 full around '01 MY. Is the tank the same for all years or do the later ones have an improved attachment method?
Any insights will be appreciated.
