Thanks for the responses. The CPS I already changed (pre-emptive), so I'll do pulleys,tensioner, belt, probably water pump, bypass valve (while it's drained), and PCV6. I'm going today to disassemble and clean the head, so I'll just take it to a head shop and get it tested and whatever else needs doing.
The rest of the engine seemed ok, no smoke, minimal oil consumption, I took off the sump when I bought it and cleaned it all out (no major sludge to speak of, just a little 'coffee grounds'). I have halved the oil change intervals and it seems no worse now than when I did the sump check a few years ago.
Any other input still most welcome.
