OK, you've all seen my rants on crappy hot weather performance which turned out to be the turbo...mostly.
Since the replacement, I still notice sluggish off the line, behavior in heavy traffic. I also notice after running at highway speeds for 15-20 miles in near 100F temps that boost only goes to 12 o'clock. (06 models don't have a yellow if it did it would be half way into the yellow). So yesterday I make a crosstown run in heavy freeway traffic (10-12 miles), pick up a couple of things (20 min soak), and head home. SID says it's 98-108F depending on if I am moving or not. The route home is all surface streets, 10-30 mph speeds. The first couple of miles it's sluggish off the line to 2100 RPM, boost comes on with a bang. Stopped at a traffic light. Magic happens. SID reads 100F and the car pulls away like it was 70F. Smooth, no hesitation, TORQUE, I am ecstatic. 5 miles later it's back to sluggish, no torque, bang on boost, otherwise no stumbles it's smooth delivery with no misfires felt. What happened in that magical stretch where it ran right? Ideas? Remember, everything but the CPS was replaced in the last 1000 miles...MAF, plugs, DIC, TB, charge air temp, MAP, and so on.......
I am completely baffled.
