My V6 is STILL smoking and Pushing Oil Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Wed, 2 Jul 2008 05:42:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've got a 2001 9-5 V6 with around 180k miles on it. I replaced the turbo 8,000 miles ago, and it continued to smoke at startup. My Saab mechanic went in and checked out the turbo which was dry on the exhaust side but a little wet on the intake side. I also had oil oozing out the fill cap - enough to make it down to the bottom of the engine and start dripping a bit. He checked out the PCV and it was very much plugged up. We replaced the whole oil separator box on the back of the engine and all the hose and the check valve. Oil is still being forced out the fill cap, which does have a brand new O-ring on it and makes a very tight seal, so I can't help but think oil is still being pushed through the turbo, causing my car to smoke every time I start it still. What could be going on!!?? I know the V6 is a rare beast but any suggestions are very much appreciated. Do you think with my mileage I just have piston ring and valve seal problems? I am ready to throw in the towel on this car, but if I get rid of it my parents will put me in a Corolla. Nooooo....
