I seem to recall, having just replaced the exhaust -er, two years ago- that the studs are attached to the muffler side, the side you are going to throw away anyways. Do I remember wrong? I remember there being two nuts to remove, breaking off one or perhaps both studs, and being quite satisfied that the parts that broke were on the "throw away" side, as opposed to the 9K, where the studs were attached to the cat.
As a hint, on replacement use stainless nuts and plenty of anti-sieze. Next time, it will come off with no damamge.
