It is many, many different software updates available for different years, models, engine and transmission configurations.

You cannot cram the same software into each and every car. The Saab scan tool hooked up to the PC with available software will automatically search and suggest what the car needs or if it has the latest one already.

The 99 model cannot be loaded with the IDM software but it does have an earlier update that dealt with throttle body problems and that software widens the allowed parameters of potentiometers in throttle body.

So that's probably what was done to your car.
