1. I have a 2003 V6 with same kind of cold starting problems. Before the warranty expires, the car has been in the dealer shop few times for hard starting problems. Now near 60,000 miles I had problems getting worse and took the car to dealer in May. They had my car there for over 3 MONTHS. GM paid for the repair since the problem existed before warranty expires. Just picked up the few weeks ago. Still had problems on last Sunday evening, took 6 try to turn the car on. Now, that was only 60F that time while usually happens when it is colder than 55F. Meantime, other morning around 50F the came on at first try even the start took little time. The problem dealer and GM mechanics/Engineers found is that the fuel does not going in when starting. They know the issue but they could not fix it fully. Now, 10 days I had car but only 2 days morning start failed. They said that they bring someone out of state to try one more time if problem still exist then buy back if not fixable.
2. Since I am near 60,000 miles, they recommend to have timing belts changed. I guess it all depends on the being fixed or not. Anyway, Is it better to do tensioner and water pump now or just tensionr? Some one said in different msg that water pump is OK until 120K. Just want to have more input from experienced guys. Thanks.
.
If starting problem is fixed, I still need to fix SID. I guess fuel fileter and cabin filter needs to be changed, too. They already changed spark plugs since they tried so many dry startings during 3 months. Thnaks for input.
