First of all, things always take me longer than others estimate, especially if it's my first time.
Today, I replaced the coolant by-pass valve and the oil pressure sensor and together it took me just over five hours. The most difficult thing about both these jobs is the limited space to work in. As with many DIY repairs they were not really complicated but very tedius.
For the oil sensor, in the end I got the 8 inch adjustable wrench to work for removing and replacing the sensor (24mm nut). I just had to feel around until I located the right place to orient the handle so there was room to move it. One advantage of the adjustable is that you can hold it at an angle and still get grip and leverage on the nut. The 02 sensor tool looks interesting - it would be interesting to know if there is such a tool for the oil sensor. What is the size of the 02 sensor nut?
The hardest thing about the sensor was detaching the starter. It was hard to get to both the upper bolt and lower retaining nut. I was able to rest the starter - I guess it was on top of the tranny - while doing the sensor R/R. What occured to me is that if the starter needed to be replaced, I really don't know how you'd get it out of the cavity where it's located within the engine area without removing the cat.
Anyway, I appreciate all the information and support from you guys.
Thanks
Calvin
