Yes, getting the starter out of the way is necessary, but tricky. One handed maneuvering of this big heavy chunk above your face is a rite of passage for the DIY mechanic. As for the mix and match tool set-up to succesfully take out the leaking sensor and install a new one - I believe I used a 12 point deep socket, which allows threading the sensor wire down one of the unused socket splines, since the sensor is only hexagonal (6 sided). A few extensions and universal joints were also required to connect the socket to my ratcheting wrench. Hopefuly, this is a once and done job.
