Updates: Akebono Brakes, Air Inlet Pipe, radio & more Posted by jgARC03SW [Email] (#1216) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jgARC03SW) on Mon, 20 Oct 2008 07:27:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Tuesday I went to the indy to install my Akebono pads. Now up to 150 miles and zero dust! ZERO!!! The stock pads would have made the wheels quite dirty by now. I was worried that the pads were very dirty in the box, but my fears were for naught. I was pondering doing it myself but for one hour labor cost, I figure better not try it the first time myself just yet.
I got the radio out, my home made pin-DIN tools worked once I saw that you only had to insert about an inch and a half... I was shoving them WAAYYY in! So with the radio out I finished the dash and thanks to Platonoff's photo tutorial I fixed the seat heater and vent switch bulbs with $1.79/pair bulbs at radio shack. They were in the "Lamp" cabinet, not the "LED" cabinet so it took a few minutes to find. Pulling the radio out by the casette player hole, I managed to knock the casette door inside the radio, but this was an easy fix, just open the radio faceplate up with some phillips head screws and put the door back.
Saturday I re tried the inlet air pipe, now that I was doing it in daylight. Previously I was unsuccessfully battling the setting sun and the old inlet would not come off for anything. Someone suggeted WD-40 and that worked like a charm. I got the old one off after removing the air filter box for better clearance. Thanks for the suggestions to protect the radiator, it sure was a tight fit getting the new one in.
Yesterday I installed the Paperskorg that I got months ago, now that I have a cordless drill. That's Swedish for wastebasket/cupholder/CD holder. Between that and doing the cabin air filter myself back in April, I need to get some of those replacement plastic carpet rivets. I also used Forever Black on the black trim which was getting quite gray, but there are spots though so I will need another coat.
Oh and my ebay CD changer (with original VIN #) wouldn't be divorced by the Indy (or he didn't know how to do it) so I had to uninstall it and I will send the changer to saabradio (unless the dealer can divorce and remarry it for me).
