I bought an '04 Aero wagon with 24k miles in the spring for $16.5k to replace my '01 LPT wagon with 125k miles, and generally find the car better in subtle but noticeable ways.
-the seats are more comfortable - better padding and somewhat smaller fitting. This may be the difference between the aero sport seats and the regular seats. I have't noticed much difference in the quality of the leather.
-An extra 65 HP makes a big difference, especially at passing speeds
-The car is lower, tighter and funner to push hard in the corners
-Some de-contenting - I miss the weather band the most of the little things that are gone
-The xenon lights are a big improvement
-Both are manual transmissions; I'm going to avoid the A/T on principle until I no longer have a choice (which I think is only a few years away)
The major driver for me was the relatively high mileage of the '01, and the relatively low cost to upgrade to a newer, lower mileage vehicle. I managed to sell the '01 for $7k so it cost under $10k for the upgrade to a three year newer car with 100k fewer miles.
