Here's what it says. And remember, this is info to help technicians with cars with these symptoms. It doesn't mean this will fix the cars. There could be other issues with a car that can cause long cranking or poor running when cold.

Service and Warranty Reference Library

Subject: Long Crank or Cold Start Concerns - keywords

Models:
2002-2006 Saab 9-5 with 2.3L B235 Engine Only

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

CONDITION/CONCERN:

A technician may comment of a long crank or rough running, typically when the vehicle is started cold after sitting all night.

RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTIONS:

Software has been released to address this condition, SPS Trionic-7 ECM with the latest software available from Tis2Web.

NOTE: The description for the updated calibration is as follows. "New Calibration / SW for US SW to take care of aftermarket remarks. Problem: Start and after start problems due to varying fuel quality during cold weather. Solution: Start fuel and after start re-calibration and SW change".

To find the latest software version needed for a particular vehicle Tis2Web may be used. Select the "Calibration Information (SPS Info)" tab and enter the full VIN of the vehicle. Then select the "Get Cal ID" link and follow the on screen prompts.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
