I have a volvo cross country wagon and a 95 aero and my parents have a volvo S60 which I drive with some frequency.

The R series for volvo was a considerable increase over the other models and will be faster and stiffer than the 95. It's just how it is. Here is the deal, the S60 is a small car, it's not in the size category of the 95. The front and back is bigger in the 95 and the back is considerably larger. I am 6'3" and my wife can easily fit behind me in the 95. In the volvo I have to put the seat forward considerably. I know this as we just took my daughter to the doctor and my wife rode in the back for both trips and we used each car.

If you're by yourself and maybe drive with another adult the volvo is going to be faster, worse on gas, more sporty and have a better sound system. The ipod integration is cool, too.

The Saab is way better if you use the back for anyone of any size larger than 4'. The trunk is bigger and the milage is desirably better. It's plenty sporty, too, just not as sporty.

you can't go wrong with either, but think of how you drive now and how you will drive for as long as you will own the car.

FYI - I would love to get a V70R wagon and tow the family around in that.
