Alarm batteries - alternate CR123 Posted by couch tour [Email] (#187) [Profile/Gallery] (more from couch tour) on Sat, 20 Dec 2008 11:32:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So I just pulled my alarm out and opened it up (2000 9-5 Wagon with screw together housing). Low and behold, the batteries in it are CR123 instead of CR17335. Someone soldered leads directly to the batteries and soldered the leads to the circuit board. So it looks like two questions are answered here: Can CR123 be used? Yes. Can you solder directly to the batteries? Yes.
Here's my question: Can I really just disconnect these batteries and toss the unit back in? Will the service theft alarm message go away if I put it in without batteries?
Thanks,
Greg
