9-5 Fuel Gauge Problem

Hi All,
My 2001 9-5 fuel gauge does not go to full after I fill up. This happened before and the second time I started the car, the gauge went up to full. Now it only reaches about 1/2 tank. Also, the SID now only reads DTE based on where the gauge is reading. The fuel pump was replaced about 8 months ago and hasn't had a problem until now. Is this a problem with the sending unit? I have read about baffles, but haven't experienced any unusualy "sloshing" sounds. Is the sending unit connected to the fuel pump?
Thanks for any help.
