The double shift and clunk when moving into D is a "feature" on the 5 speed auto to wake you up before starting to drive forward ;o)
Both Saab's and Volvo can experience the same problem and it is inside the valve body that something is wrong. Since the valve body is such a pricey piece and not a 100% guarantee fix and also that the problem doesn't seem to get worse with use, I just leave it alone.
Making sure the fluid is clean and of correct type will help prolong the life of transmission.
