The suggestion could be a left over from the NG900/9000 V6 days where the rubber gasket was in fact a major hassle if not replaced or carefully reglued back on the cover or that the cover was replaced with the updated style that the 9-5 uses with the rubber gasket mounted in a different way.
It is several reports where the rubber gasket on those engines came loose and got into the timing belt ruining the engine.
