With the help of U-Haul technical support, I believe there is a hitch alternative to the Saab factory one. U-Haul technical support found that the actual hitch that Saab offers for the 2006 and above sedan is actually the same part number as for the 2003-2005 vehicles. I verified this with my local Saab parts department. Consequently, U-Haul hitch number #36286 will work in the 2006 and newer vehicles. No additional drilling is required. This is a Class 2 hitch. The price of the hitch is $149.95 (not including installation labor and other electrical options). U-Haul also offers any additional assessories you might need for this hitch.

If you look at U-Haul's web site, they don't currently list an option available for model year 2006 and above. They plan on updating their web site shortly. I ordered a hitch today and hopefully will get it installed in a few weeks. Since I'm only using it for a bike rack, I'm not looking for the electrical hook-up.
