I would say in that range of model years your best bet is going to be an Aero. I don't think there were many Linear ('03) or Arc wagons with sticks simply because not many people ever wanted them. In the Northeast, you're probably likely to find them from Connecticut into New England. New York and New Jersey are just not stick country, especially for wagons. I know, because I am from NJ. My first Saab was an '01 wagon with a stick leased from my local dealer (the only one they had). When that car was totaled in August of '02, the dealer spent a week and a half and couldn't find one. I found two - one in Boston, and one in Virginia. I ended up leasing my '02 Linear from the Virginia dealer (and three other Saabs from them in the next three years as well). When I traded the '02 in back in August of '07 (for a convertible for my wife), one NJ dealer didn't want it all because there was no demand. The other did take it for a reasonable price and was lucky enough to sell it about a week or so later to a European couple who specifically wanted a stick, but otherwise, he might have been sitting on it for a while.
I have since driven only automatics and, to be honest, I think the 9-5 is a much better car with the auto (and I was a long time stick driver). When I leased my '08 sedan, the dealer actually had a stick equipped the same way, but I decided to pass in favor of the auto.
Since you're looking for a used car, consider one thing no matter what your driving preference is: modern automatic transmissions are virtually bullet proof. Clutches are not, and clutches can be subject to lot of abuse depending on who drove the car. If there is any sort of warranty left on the car, it will cover the automatic, but it won't cover the clutch, and a clutch repair is one hell of an expensive job. Good luck with your search.
