I just did a headgasket on my mom's car, its a 2003 9-5 4 cyl 127k. I did not have the head planed.
I was slightly off with the timing on my first try but I got it the second time. It idled up and down with the timing off. After I reset timing and I got the car all back together it idled in the driveway fine. I then took it down the road... no problems for 5 minutes then the oil lamp flickered. I returned home and added a bit more oil, it was hard to tell, but I know there are at least 4.5 quarts now! I have no leaks at all, but the light is flickering whenever it warms up. I also did the PCV Update at the same time.
My question, did I mess something up in the head? Where is the oil pressure? It did not flicker before. Did I knock sludge into the sump perhaps? There was definitly some sludge on the chain and the old PCV system was nonfunctional (collasped hoses from oil soaking). I don't mind doing the pan drop, but I just really need to know if I need to retrace my headwork at all!!! I need my garage back!!!
I can't think of any reason why a mistake with the HG would cause this. Can you?
Thanks some much!
