Dean, who was a very frequent poster years ago but almost never posts any more, replaced his drivers with Infinity Kappas and reported much better sound. Others have done the same thing, almost always using Kappas, probably due to the odd sizes and resistance values of the speakers used in these cars.

Lately I have read posts from owners of earlier cars, such as your 2001, stating the foam surrounds on their factory speakers have failed due to age.
