As always, we need to get the lingo straight. I assume you mean the starter is not cranking over the engine when you say no start, no turn over?
Or do you mean that the starter is cranking over the engine just fine but the engine is not firing up and start to run?
I have learned lately that "rowing" the gear shifter means almost nothing on the later style gear selector switches when a no crank scenario is present and the switch is at fault.
On the NG900 cars and the first generation gear selector switches it was very common to use that method to get it working but it was mostly transmission errors and limp home scenarios in those cases.
What I suspect is happening and which also goes more hand in hand with the hot car/hot weather scenario when the switch is failing is that where the wire harness enters the gear selector switch and is soldered onto the board and then covered with epoxy. Inside those solder joints is where the joints break and loose contact when hot. The contact is still good enough to pass some voltage but not enough to trigger the starter relay.
I have broken open a couple of switches lately where when they failed, it was no way to "tickle them back to life by rowing gear shifter" and it looked like the solder joints were slightly corroded and came apart inside the epoxied part of the switch.
So with that said, it is not much more to advice than to start changing parts, get down and dirty and measure your way to the problem or have a shop take a look at it.
