It doesn't get cold enough in San Diego for that to be an issue, but I had slow starts for a couple of weeks, especially when the fuel tank was below a quarter tank (related??... I don't know). And then a dead battery -- one jump start to get me home, and in the morning I couldn't even get a jump start to work, and it had to be towed to the dealer for a new battery.
Specifics: 99 2.3 LPT auto wagon, 23k miles, 15 months old. I do think mine got some extra wear and tear by being in the showroom for a while before we bought it at model year end last year.
Unrelated note: I've been watching the fuel economy threads for a while, and mine's always been a real fuel pig -- 20.0 mpg in combined driving. Just did a thousand mile round tripper to San Francisco over the holiday, and averaged 28 MPG on the freeway at about 85mph plus the whole way. Finally some decent mileage :)
