Hope it holds for a while.
I would highly recommend soldering those wires, and using heat shrink tubing. All those twisted connections and electrical tape is just asking for trouble.
I did this on the green trunk light wire a couple of years ago. Inserted a longer section of green wire with soldering and shrink tubing. I undid a clip inside the trunk lid to give more slack to the harness.
Any electronics house or Radio Shack would have the supplies needed.
