I have a 9-5 Aero 5 speed and an '03 Boxster. The cars are two totally different driving experiences. I agree that the base Boxster can feel a bit lethargic in a straight line compared to an Aero. But the Boxster offers handling the 9-5 can't come close to, and your wife/girlfriend will ask you to take her out for sunset drives in it. And when you get the Boxster into the heart of the power band (4000 rpm and up), it comes alive. It's more work than a Saab, and you have to keep the revs up.
I agree with the previous post about the importance of getting one checked out before buying. If you can get a CPO car, even better (you'll pay more, though). Learn about the potential problems and make an informed choice.
I love mine!
