I typically laugh at people who talk so highly of Carfax! car fax is 50/50 at BEST!! over the last 10 years every car I owned would have had a clean carfax and every one of them was wrecked some minor and some very badly. I buy project cars, but if their was no insurance claim on them their will be no carfax report. I always recomend checking all the gaps in the sheet mtl, doors hood trunk etc make sure they line up, check around the rubber seals and trim for paint or tape marks, look for stone chips that have been painted over or park the car in the sun and againin the shade and look it over to see if any of the paint shows up different shades of color and always remove the trunk carpets to see any signs of wrinkles in the QTR panels, look under the head lights from the hood area for signs of wrinkled core supports or frame rails. if anything comes up, I still would not walk away but these can be barganing chips on price!!! and NEVER walk in and OOH and AAAH over a clean carfax, make sure they understand it really doesn't mean much to you!!!! it only means someone serviced at a dealer or used their insurance for a claim. and not all dealers even go thru the hassle of posting info on a car.
