I'll third the vote for E-Code headlight lenses. They provide a much better low beam pattern and on high beam, project the light at least 50% further down the road. They make a remarkable difference in lighting performance. I have them on my 2000 9-5 Aero sedan and 2003 9-3 SE Convertible. Besides being cheaper than aux lights, they look better and I would suspect that they will project the light down the road as far as the aux lights, as they both should conform to the same European lighting standards.
Besides with the Aux lights on and your headlights on high beam, it will be obvious to vehicle inspectors and the constabulary that you are in violation of U.S. lighting standards (no more than 4 lights projection out from the front - that's why your fog lights turn off when you go to the high beams). The E-Codes though not approved for most states are much more subtle. Nobody on this board has ever reported having a problem with them. I've had them on 5 vehicles (a Dodge, an Alfa, a Fiat and two Saabs) and the in-laws have them on another Saab and we have never had a problem with inspectors or the law.
Brooks,
