Hello All,

I am leaving for Canada this afternoon in about 12 hours. I am about to goto bed. I have an issue but I have two sets of rims so I consider myself fortunate.

I purchased 4 17" Dual Y spoke wheels for my '05 9-5 at a junkyard. They came off a mint 2004 Arc or Aero I believe (got to see the car at the yard). I have had them for about 3 months now. Since they sat in a junkyard the tires lost the air and moisture got to the aluminum wheels. As a result there was corrosion on the some of the wheel beads. I had to have three remounted. At the same time most of the corrosion was sanded off. However, the first was not sanded too well, but it didn't leak after that. Now none of my tires leak air. I honestly don't recall if the wheel in question was remounted. But, I am 90% sure it was.

Last weekend while using tire shine I noticed the slightest bulge. It is not like a tire bubble you would find on Google images. Most of the bubbles on google images are only on the sidewall. Mine has not grown at all since last week and I have driven about 600 miles. It is about a 1 to 2 mm imperfection. The one thing I can definitely see is that it starts at the bead. It seems that the tire at this one point where the bulge is not perfectly on the bead. Where the imperfection is the tire bead is mounted about 1 to 1.5 mm off of the bead unlike the rest of the tire. Basically where the tire meets the rim in this one spot the tire bead is 1 to 1.5 mm off of the wheel unlike the rest of the tire. I am thinking that because of this the tire run out is a bit off causing the slight imperfection. That's why I am thinking it is just corrosion.

I know this is very hard to explain but I don't know how to post a picture in the thread and its too late at night to get one. Do you think this is a aluminum corrosion problem along the bead? I don't know if that tire was remounted but I am almost certain it was. Could it be a bubble (therefore compromising the sidewall)? Wouldn't the bubble have grown larger though? Or should I simply just throw on the stock 16" wheels with all season tires?

Please help. I'll be on in the morning to get this situated before I leave. Wouldn't want to get stuck in New Brunswick on a Saturday with a bad tire. Especially 500 miles from home. Thanks guys, it is much appreciated.

Best Regards,

R.T.
