I've had a 99 Viggen, 99 9-3 with various upgrades for a little while, a 2000 9-5, and some classic 900s. Between the various newer cars, the viggen was the fastest and most comfortable because of the seats. I like the 3-knob climate control of the classics the most; the normal 9-3 almost had it ideal, but Saab was pretty busy fixing broken knobs. The ACC is too complicated in my opinion, the 9-5 more so due to the dual zones.
The 9-5 has the best stock handling for most purposes. The viggen was good but had a little too much body roll I thought; it was certainly correctable with upgrades if you didn't like it. The 9-5 has a lot more room without being much bigger. It's a good car for a long drive too, but the 9-3 was also. The 9-5 has amazingly useful trunk, but I miss the hatchback tradition and function.
