I'm pretty sure Saab switched the OEM pads to Akebono Euro Ceramics between 2004 and 2008. Not necessarily a GM cost-cutting move. They don't have as much bite, but they create much less dust and last much longer. Worth it to me, but if really strong brakes are important to you you could switch back to some pads with more bite and more dust. I would look it up to be sure for you, but I am in the middle of Timbuk-three with dial up that is slower than a turtle swimming in Molases.
