Earlier 9-5's had a problem with the banjo bolts on the water line going to the turbo. The bolt had too small of a hole so that full water flow was never achieved. This reduced cooling caused the turbo to cook oil and eventually fail. Later production 9-5's had this fixed, although the 2.3 liter engine still had sludge problems which also kill turbos. Its not that the turbos are bad, its just that there were design problems that killed them. Also, the V6 uses the GT 15, which is also different than the GT 17 in the 2.3. Those models did not suffer from water cooling problems, hence the lower rate of failures.
