Crutchfield's configurator tool shows no HD devices that will work with a 9-5's factory radio, although they previously sold a divice that "might" work. The potential soluiton is made by Directed Electronics, their Car Connect HD converter.
Suppossedly it can connect to any car head unit that accepts a remote CD player. But even this device requires a separate hand held controller, and a separate antenna. Can anything truly conect to the remote CD player inputs of a Saab head unit other than Saab's player?
I sent an e-mail to CBS, parent company of the local radio station, pointing out the falacies of their decision to abandon standard radio frequencies in favor of HD only. This jazz music station had previously been the number #1 most listened to station in listener polls for the Detroit radio market, I wonder how far they will fall in the ratings now that they have "pulled the plug" on most of their listeners. With far fewer listeners they will have trouble attracting advertisers, no advertisers equals no profits for CBS and no bonuses for the source of this bad idea.
Thanks again.
