UPDATE; still NEED ADVICE on Intermediate bearing... diagnosis and replacement. I used hydraulic floor jacks + jack stands to get the front wheels off the ground and double chocked both rears. There didn't seem to be anything loose or visibly wrong with wheel bearings, CV joints, transaxle, or the intermediate shaft. Next, I ran the car in D with the stability control off. The noise was immediately evident. I had my wife hold the accelerator while I walked around the car. It is definitely much louder on the right (Intermediate shaft) side. Then I reached up and felt the intermediate shaft bearing bracket and could feel vibrations like loose balls rattling a bit. The transaxle did not feel that way. In the Haynes manual, replacement is rated "Fairly difficult" with 46 steps and even involves removing the belt, tensioner, and alternator. It may be a good excuse to get the hydraulic press I always wanted. But I want to be sure before I tackle it.
ANY ADVICE ON DIAGNOSIS/REPLACEMENT WILL BE APPRECIATED.
