I've just done both of mine in the last few months, and it is relatively simple. Only a couple of things to look out for. First, the bolt and nut on the knuckle that holds the top part of the ball joint have 18mm heads, which is sometimes missing from wrench/socket sets. It would be ideal if you had two breaker bars, one normal 18mm socket, and one 18mm deep socket. You can get away with an 18mm box wrench on the nut side and a breaker bar on the bolt side. Second, get a large flat blade screw driver and open up the split on the knuckle before you tap out the ball joint. Third, you may or may not have to push the axle out of the hub to get room to pull out the ball joint. I was replacing my wheel bearings so I was removing the whole knuckle. At a minimum, I would expect that you would have to remove the top two bolts that connect the knuckle to the strut.
