sounds crazy but if you search my posts from starting last fall I had a similiar noise/vibration I could not find for about 3-4 months, I finally gave up last winter till this spring when it started to get worse and worse. it was my Hub, the bearing was fine but the hub was worn and it could wobble inside the bearing, eventualy the bearing started to make a little noise as well.. so i changed it and found the worn Hub. drove me nuts for several months. when it got real bad it definatly sounded like worn Pads, and sometimes it would make strange almost clunking or snapping at times, and vibrations at speed. when it finally got real bad I could jack up the car and get a slight wiggle in the wheel, when it first started the wheel seemed tight. I could not get any noticable wiggle with the tire/wheel removed from the hub. but when i removed the bearing the hub almost fell out, it took very little pressure for it to come out.
