yup, $40-50k in Canada. much less in USA, no?
I'm guessing this new one will be $60k here... if we ever see it...
for the most part, I think going up makes sense as long as the real quality in the car goes up with the cost. 9-5 has been cheapened a lot by GM to the point of it not being up there with A6/5 series at all. I was recently at a junk yard scavenging from (among other saabs) a 9000. That was a solidly built car! Definitely on par with the Germans. put 9k quality leather + controls in the new car, and it will be up there with A6 (or better). People will get it + little need to undercut on price.
I don't agree with those that say Saab should try to compete with Honda + Toyota. Saab will never be able to compete with those companies from a production/efficiency perspective. High end is the only way to go. GM hurt the image. That is all that needs to be fixed. 9-5 needs to be real luxury touring car (like 9k), 9-3 practical/safe/fun, entry level lux (like the c900)... K.I.S.S. imho...
