Hi,

I had a problem this evening in my MY2000 9-5 2.3 lpt (about 145k miles, manual transmission) while on my way home from work. At a stoplight while sitting, the RPM dropped to about 500. Then, the check engine and TCS off lights came on. I tapped the gas to keep the car from stalling and it seemed to return to normal. I had just checked the oil earlier that day and it was full, and the oil pressure light was not on, so I was fairly certain it was safe to drive the 8 more miles home. Both lights stayed on and the car had lost the throttle overrun behavior that it would normally do when upshifting. After poking around on the BB, I'm fairly confident that it is the throttle body causing these issues. I am planning to clear the codes and do the manual TB reset tomorrow. I'm a little concerned, however, as when I went to drive it about an hour after I had returned home after the first time, I got about 500 feet from my house and the car stalled again. I started it back up, stalled again, I started it back up, and was able to make it back to the driveway. Granted I haven't reset anything yet, but I expected it to be more "driveable" in the limp home mode (which it was after the initial stall). This is the first time I've experienced this since the TB was replaced under warranty in 2004 w/ 48k miles on the car. Also, the cruise control has been intermittent for some time. I have no idea if that is related but it never hurts to give all of the details. I guess my question is: Given that this is the first of this issue I've seen with this particular TB, can I write this off as just an early on "glitch" with the TB and I'll still get 5 to 10k more miles out of it, or is the constant stalling a sudden-death indicator? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Nik.
