This comes out to a couple changes a year.
I do this on my two 9Ks and a 9-3 which get 7-11K annually. For one of the 9Ks and the 9-3 this is an annual change. For the other 9K it's 2x a year. To eliminate potential sludge issues I do our 9-5 every 5K.
The nice thing with full synthetic is that you can comfortably go to 7500 miles or more and the oil still does its job.
Just watch for sales at Advanced, Pep Boys or Auto Zone on Mobil 1, Castrol Syntech or other good Syn and you'll be fine. These are often 5 quarts and a filter for $25-30 so it's cheap to do.
