Just to be clear... is it reading 3/4th's leaning toward hot or cold? Either way I'd start by replacing both the thermostat and temp sensor. If it's reading a little warm you could check the radiator for an external blockage. With 175k miles on my 2001 9-5 there was enough road debris (sand, grit, dirt) wedged in the fins of my radiator to reduce its efficiency significantly. My mechanic (I could have done this) used a garden hose and air compressor to blow a ton of stuff out of it and it helped my car run a little cooler. Welcome to the 9-5 board, and good luck!
