As of now, the only hands free kit and phone that is capable of providing ALL of the features that the Saab built in system can offer is the Nokia Series 5000,6000,or 7000 phones.Even with those phones, the only way right now to make them provide ALL of the features that they can, while still retaining Onstar's utility, is to purchase the Triad connection device from Uhltronics.Even then, they still suggest using the hands free kit's separate speaker rather than the car's audio system for the phone,in case you wish to conference your telephone call with the Onstar advisor.
The apparent limitation with other brands of phone is that they do not bring all of the required signals out to the multi pin connector on the bottom of the phone.I have used a Nokia in my previous 9-5 with excellent results, and will be installing it in my new Aero next week, without using Onstar. In a nutshell, the Triad allows you to share the microphone with both your hands free kit, and with Onstar. In the event that you are talking on the cell phone while your airbags are deploying(and shame on you if that happens),the cell phone call is overridden by the Onstar's signal to notify that the airbags have fired. It takes about two hours to install, and does what it should, although some who have put it in have commented on a high frequency whine upon installation, which is apparently solved with a new filter capacitor from Uhltronics.
Sorry that this will not help your Kyocera installation, but perhaps a memo to Kyocera suggesting that they provide the correct outputs to the hands free kit will help in the future.
Good luck
