Just sold my manual trans 9-5 last week in favor of an automatic for essentially this reason. If you really enjoy shifting, probably nothing is going to talk you out of one,but for me,until Saab introduces a fully electrohydraulic manual that allows for auto shifting as an option,I am going shiftless, and get my new Aero on Thursday. The 9-5 has a very smooth clutch, and although the shift throws are on the long side compared to a BMW's,the car is going to be a little more efficient with the manual as far as fuel burn, but when you are in traffic up the ying yang, who cares?
I'm in a 9-5 SE for the week, and am really loving the smooth shifting of the automatic.Try them both if you must.By the way,the V-6 is a terrific combination with this gearbox, and is almost as quick off the line as an Aero.
