I only tried 0w30 this winter because I thought thinner oil would be good for turbo lubrication on starting up. I use 10W30 in summer. I have been bringing fully synthetic oil (Mobil 1, and not "blend") to the dealership for every oil change ever since the car had its first oil change at about 5000 miles, 10w30 in the spring and 5w30 in the fall. I tried 0w30 this year, and car has been running rough before fully warmed up ever since. Does running too thin oil (blow by) cause roughness?
Also, is there harm in mixing two oil weights? I can't find 0w40 anywhere near where I live now . . . would a 1:1 mix of 0w30 and 10w40 achieve the same result? getting the best of both words or the worst of each?
