There is no problem using 16 inch wheels on a 2000 9-5 Aero year around. You will get a better ride, more resistance to pot holes but lose some on handling. I would recommend the 215/55-16 tires used on other models of the same vintage, but note that the 215/55-16s are slightly larger than the stock Aero 225/45-17s. So you will be going faster then your speedometer says. If you go with 215/55-16s, I recommend you have your car reset by your favorite mechanic with a Tech II for 16 inch wheels will will correct the speedometer problems.
