How to remove the tailgate cover on wagon to fix spray? Posted by Wil W [Email] (#1148) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Wil W) on Tue, 16 Mar 2010 12:18:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
I have been waiting to investigate/fix my rear washer sprayer and someone posted that a likely cause is a clogged valve/diverter and to clean that out. I didn't want to work on it during the winter to avoid breaking brittle plastic parts (in MN, even the garage is below freezing).
I have researched here but am hesitant for force anything. I looked at the WIS and the instructions are pretty sketchy and don't necessarily match up. I have removed the plastic rivets, the 2 hex bolts (and the locating pin) on the handle and disconnected the interior hatch lights. I released the plastic clips at the top corners of the cover holding the plastic trim on but it is still connected at the center somewhere. I know there are likely some clips holding right at the lock/wiper mechanisms but don't know how they operate.
Can someone give me a little more detail on the last stages on how to get the cover off? It would be great to have some pictures of the clips and how they release. I just hate forcing plastic pieces that tend to break. Also, any additional thoughts on why my rear sprayer doesn't work; sounds like the pump is working but nothing comes out of the rear nozzles. My dealer has replaced the nozzles a couple of times a few years ago, and now the sprayers don't work again.
TIA
