Just trash the middle muffler. Mine finally rusted enough at the Catalytic Conv flange and fell off. Take a grinder, cut off the old rusty bolts, and take a wedge and pound off the old flange that was attached to the middle muffler. Then remove all your rubber hangars (7) and drop the rest of the exhaust system.
Either take it to any cheap muffler shop and have them weld on a new middle pipe along with a new flare end and flange clamp and hang and bolt it back together or do it yourself. For $50, I let them weld it and flare the end with a new clamp, less headache and quicker. Seal the pipe to Converter with a good amount of HiTemp red sealant, temporarily hang that end for leverage first, then start hanging the muffler section starting from the back, then bolt it tight to the Cat.
For questions about noise, I noticed absolutely ZERO noise increase, in fact I think it sounds a bit quieter now, prob cause the middle muffler isn't leaking! hahaha!
Heck, have the shop weld on a new muffler to the end while it's off just for good measure, or take it in to them. Only takes less than an hour to do, and probably for still less than $100 with a new muffler.
