I was just asking about B Millar comment about seeing "enough people who are 100% on top of oil changes and PCV updates have still experienced catastrophic sludge failure". Using non-synthetic oil is obviously not being "100% on top of oil changes" - so that is why I was asking. So far I have not seen any reports of sludging with full-synthetic. I personally change oil every 10k with Mobil 1 0w40. My 2000 9-5 is at 160k right now. I consider 5k oil changes an overkill since there is no evidence of sludging with the Saab recommended 10k full-synthetic oil changes.
