Hi folks,
I am looking fwd to seeing the new 9-5 in person, I'm a little concerned with its size - which must impact nimbleness. I do wonder why, with just under 300hp, and weight of 3,600 pounds or so (if indeed that is a typo in the article), the car is so slow compared to say a BMW 535xi which has similar power and weighs more but has a 0-60 of closer to 5.5 secs. The A6 with the new supercharged 6 cyl. is also considerably faster. What gives? The 9-3 Turbo X with AWD and what I guess is the same engine is also much slower that the competition, despite promising stats...

My 2004 5 speed 9-5 Aero could maybe clock 0-60 of about 7 seconds (If I were to abuse it, which I don't), with terrible wheelspin and little progress out of 1st gear...

I'm not a speed demon, but if they put it a fuel hungry Turbo 6 with AWD and it won't be faster than my fuel efficient and fun turbo 4, what's the point? (Ok, smoothness, premium feel..., but there should be more to it!)

Just ranting. I hope things work out for SAAB.

Rick
